Tragedy in Abia: Mentally Unstable Man Kills Sister and Twin Nephews, Sparks Panic

A wave of fear has gripped Ndagbo Afara, Umuahia North LGA, Abia State, following a horrifying attack in which a mentally unstable man brutally killed his sister and her twin children before fleeing the scene.

A Shocking Crime Unfolds
The suspect, identified as Mr. Ibekwe Augustine James, is said to have killed his sister, Chinomso Nwabali James, along with her four-year-old twin sons, Moses and Marvelous Chris.

According to reports, after committing the gruesome act, James buried the children’s bodies in a shallow grave before attempting to drag his sister’s corpse across the family compound. His horrific actions were discovered by a family member, prompting him to abandon the body and flee.

Residents Gripped by Fear
Despite reassurances from the Abia State Police Command that efforts are ongoing to capture the suspect, residents of Ndagbo Afara are deeply unsettled.

Many fear that the suspect, still on the run, could return and strike again. Some have called on the state government and law enforcement agencies to intensify their search and ensure he is caught before causing further harm.

Police Warn Against Keeping Mentally Unstable Relatives at Home
Reacting to the tragic incident, DSP Maureen Chinaka, spokesperson for the Abia State Police Command, stressed the importance of seeking professional treatment for individuals suffering from mental illnesses.

She urged families to take affected relatives to psychiatric facilities for proper care and rehabilitation rather than keeping them at home, where they could pose a serious danger to themselves and others.

Meanwhile, authorities have vowed to track down the fugitive suspect and bring him to justice.
