On Thursday, two South Korean fighter jets mistakenly dropped eight air-to-surface bombs on a civilian area in Pocheon, a town about 40 km (25 miles) northeast of Seoul. The powerful explosions shook nearby homes and buildings, with video footage capturing the impact.
The military later confirmed that eight 500-pound (225 kg) Mk82 bombs had fallen outside the designated range due to a pilot entering incorrect coordinates during a joint live-fire exercise.
