A 22-year-old petrol station supervisor, Prosper Ese, has been arraigned before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing over N1.25 million from his employer.
Charges and Court Proceedings
Ese, whose residential address was not provided, faces two charges—stealing and fraud. The accused pleaded not guilty to both charges during his court appearance on Wednesday.
Alleged Crime Details
According to prosecutor ASP Edet Ekpo, the alleged crime took place on March 2 at Arigbabuwo Petrol Filling Station, Oko-Afo, Badagry.
Ese reportedly stole N1,056,400 from sales remittances.
He also allegedly fraudulently obtained N200,000 from a woman, Aisat Folorunsho, under false pretenses.
The suspect was caught while attempting to flee the petrol station.
Legal Implications & Bail Conditions
The prosecution stated that the offences violate Sections 287 and 311 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
Chief Magistrate N.A. Layeni granted Ese bail at N1 million with two sureties in the same amount. The case has been adjourned until April 16 for further mention.
