Rapper Recalls Past Doubts, Expresses Confidence in His Career
Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez has shared a powerful message about staying grounded in the music industry, emphasizing that not every talent will endure over time.
The artist, known for his bold personality and lyrical prowess, expressed confidence in his ability to remain relevant for as long as he desires.
Blaqbonez Remembers Past Criticism
Taking to social media, Blaqbonez recalled a 2017 freestyle battle where an up-and-coming rapper signed to Olamide’s YBNL Nation publicly mocked him and predicted his failure in the music industry.
While he did not mention names, fans speculated that he was referring to Limerick, a former YBNL signee.

In a series of tweets, Blaqbonez addressed the situation, reflecting on how people underestimate others too quickly.
He wrote:
“Because you got a deal before me, you added my name to your freestyles—‘You no go ever blow like Blaqbonez’—all because Olamide signed you. You thought he was God, abi??”
He further criticized the rapper for putting him down instead of supporting fellow creatives, reminding him of their shared history in rap battle groups before success came into play.
“I pray you see these tweets and reflect on your life. You were so quick to sht on people. We were in rap battle groups together for years, but as them sign you, it was time to sht on me, my work ethic, and everything.”
Blaqbonez: “I Will Be Here for as Long as I Want”
Despite the past criticism, Blaqbonez remained unshaken, expressing his deep confidence in his craft and his fanbase.
“Not every kind of talent can last for years. I know who I am. I will be here for as long as I want to be. The music I make, nobody else can make it.”
He also gave a shout-out to his loyal fans, acknowledging those who supported him before his mainstream hits like “Bling”.
“I have fans that have been there since the very beginning, not the ones who discovered me with ‘Bling’ or all that sh*t. The ones I’m talking about know themselves.”
Resilience and Industry Survival
Blaqbonez’s message highlights a harsh reality in the music industry—not every artist who gets an early record deal will last, and true longevity depends on hard work, consistency, and unique artistry.
His reflections serve as a lesson to upcoming creatives, urging them to stay focused and avoid belittling others on their journey to success.
