“APC Chieftain Shinkafi Criticizes Tinubu’s Appointments, Warns of 2027 Election Fallout”

A Call for Fairness and Security
A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, has criticized President Bola Tinubu for what he describes as “lopsided” federal appointments, particularly in the Northwest region. Speaking in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State, Shinkafi warned that the perceived neglect of Zamfara—a key state in Tinubu’s 2023 presidential victory—could have serious repercussions in the 2027 elections.

Shinkafi also urged the president to address the persistent security crisis in Zamfara and other parts of Nigeria, emphasizing the need for fairness and inclusivity in governance.

Shinkafi’s Critique: A Betrayal of Zamfara
Shinkafi, who recently joined the APC after resigning as the National Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), expressed disappointment that Zamfara has been largely sidelined in federal appointments despite its significant contribution to Tinubu’s electoral success.

“Zamfara is one of only two Northwestern states—alongside Jigawa—that voted for Tinubu in the last election, yet it has not been adequately rewarded,” he stated.

Shinkafi described the current distribution of appointments as a “betrayal” of the people of Zamfara and warned that failure to address the imbalance could lead to a loss of support from the Northwest in the 2027 elections.

The Security Crisis: A Call for Action
In addition to his critique of Tinubu’s appointments, Shinkafi called on the president to intensify efforts to combat insecurity across Nigeria, with a special focus on Zamfara. The state has been plagued by armed groups that continue to kill, maim, and abduct innocent civilians while displacing entire communities.

Shinkafi emphasized that resolving the security crisis is crucial to restoring peace and stability in the region, which would, in turn, strengthen public confidence in the APC-led administration.

Internal Party Divisions: A Call for Unity
Shinkafi also highlighted deep divisions within the APC in Zamfara, stating that party members have lost trust and confidence in its leadership. He vowed to resist any attempts to impose candidates in the 2027 elections, calling for strict adherence to internal party democracy to restore fairness and unity.

“We must ensure that the party operates transparently and inclusively. Imposing candidates will only deepen the divisions and weaken our chances in future elections,” he said.

A Wake-Up Call for the APC
Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi’s critique serves as a wake-up call for President Tinubu and the APC leadership. His warnings about the potential fallout in the 2027 elections underscore the importance of addressing regional imbalances and prioritizing security to maintain public trust.

As the APC prepares for future elections, it must heed Shinkafi’s call for fairness, inclusivity, and internal democracy to remain a strong and united political force.
