“Finidi George Welcomes Chijioke Mbaoma to Rivers United, Eyes NPFL Title Push”

Rivers United’s technical adviser, Finidi George, has expressed his excitement over the arrival of former Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) top scorer, Chijioke Mbaoma, and other new signings. Finidi believes the additions will significantly boost the team’s chances of achieving their goals this season.

A Boost for Rivers United
Chijioke Mbaoma, who recently joined the former NPFL champions, brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of scoring goals. His arrival, alongside other new strikers, is expected to strengthen Rivers United’s attack as they aim to close the gap on league leaders Remo Stars and Rangers.

Finidi, a former Nigerian international, shared his optimism with the club’s media, stating:
“These are experienced players, especially strikers. I’m happy with their contributions. Let’s keep this going and see how far we can go.”

The Road Ahead
Rivers United are currently focused on climbing the NPFL table and challenging for the title. Finidi emphasized the importance of consistency, particularly in away games, to achieve their objectives.

“We are working towards a target, and I believe it’s achievable. Fighting for the league is still possible if we can pick points away and win our home games,” he said.

Finidi also highlighted the upcoming fixtures against Remo Stars and Rangers, noting that strong performances in these matches could put pressure on the league leaders.

“We know Remo Stars and Rangers are still coming to Port Harcourt. By the time we start doing this, we will close up the gap. Maybe there will be pressure on their path, and they might slip. We will keep encouraging the boys and see how far we can go.”

What This Means for Rivers United
The addition of Mbaoma and other strikers signals Rivers United’s intent to compete at the highest level. With Finidi at the helm, the team is determined to make a strong push for the NPFL title and reclaim their status as champions.
