“Governor Abiodun Calls for Collaboration to Combat Insecurity, Commissions Amotekun Outpost in Ogun”

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has called on traditional rulers, philanthropists, and stakeholders to join hands with the government in the fight against insecurity. The governor made this appeal while commissioning a new Amotekun security outpost in Ogere, built and donated by the Ologere of Ogere, Oba James Obafemi.

The facility, located along the Ogere-Interchange corridor of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, is expected to enhance the performance of security agencies and ensure a swift response to crime-related incidents. Here’s the full story.

Governor Abiodun’s Appeal
Governor Abiodun, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Cabinet and Special Services, Iskeel Saka, emphasized that security is a collective responsibility. He urged stakeholders to support the government’s efforts to reduce insecurity to the barest minimum.

“Fighting insecurity cannot be left to the state government alone; it requires collaboration and support from all, particularly the private sector, to ensure that insecurity is reduced to the barest minimum in our communities,” Abiodun stated.

He praised Oba James Obafemi for his initiative and called on other indigenes and philanthropists to emulate the monarch’s gesture.

The New Amotekun Outpost
The newly commissioned Amotekun outpost is expected to:

Reinforce the presence of security agencies in the Ogere community.

Ensure rapid response to crime-related incidents.

Serve as a deterrent to criminal activities, particularly along the busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Governor Abiodun expressed confidence that the facility would improve the safety and security of lives and property in Ogere and across Ogun State.

Oba James Obafemi’s Initiative
The Ologere of Ogere, Oba James Obafemi, lamented the rise in insecurity and the brazenness of criminals who show no regard for human life or property. He emphasized the need for proactive measures to protect communities, which motivated his decision to build and donate the Amotekun outpost.

“It is our pride and pleasure to have constructed this facility to support Amotekun in their daily efforts to provide security in a community we consider our cradle,” Oba Obafemi said.

Amotekun’s Commitment
The Corps Commander of the Ogun State Security Network Agency (Amotekun), Brigadier General Alade Adedigba, assured the community of unwavering security services. He stressed that tackling insecurity requires a strategic approach and the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders.

“In recognition of this rare gesture, Ogere and its environs will receive the highest level of security attention from the Amotekun Corps,” Adedigba stated.

Why This Matters
The commissioning of the Amotekun outpost is a significant step in addressing the security challenges facing Ogun State, particularly in high-traffic areas like the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. By fostering collaboration between the government, traditional rulers, and philanthropists, the initiative sets a precedent for community-driven security solutions.

For residents of Ogere and surrounding areas, the outpost offers a sense of safety and reassurance, demonstrating the power of collective action in combating insecurity.

What’s Next?
As the Amotekun outpost becomes operational, the focus will be on its effectiveness in deterring crime and ensuring rapid response to incidents. Governor Abiodun’s call for collaboration is expected to inspire similar initiatives across the state, further strengthening Ogun’s security architecture.
