“Gov Uba Sani Warns Politicians Against Politicizing Kaduna’s Security Challenges”

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has issued a stern warning to politicians who exploit the state’s security challenges for political gain, stating that such actions endanger the lives of innocent citizens. The governor made these remarks while receiving 58 kidnapped victims recently rescued by security forces and handed over to the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu.

Governor Sani emphasized that his administration remains committed to protecting lives and property, urging politicians to prioritize the welfare of the people over their personal interests. Here’s the full story.

Governor Sani’s Strong Message
During the handover ceremony at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House in Kaduna, Governor Sani condemned the politicization of insecurity, calling out those who benefit from the escalation of violence.

“The merchants of insecurity will not be happy with the release of these innocent souls because they are benefiting from insecurity,” he said. “As an elected governor, I swore to protect the lives and property of the people of Kaduna State and have been doing my best to fulfill this obligation.”

Success of the Kaduna Peace Model
Governor Sani highlighted the success of the Kaduna Peace Model, which employs a non-kinetic approach to address insecurity. He noted that areas like Birnin Gwari, once considered a “no-go area,” have become peaceful, with bandits laying down their arms and markets reopening after over a decade of closure.

“Business activities have started booming in Birnin Gwari and parts of Giwa Local Government, which were previously ravaged by insecurity,” he said.

The governor also assured residents of Kauru, Kajuru, and parts of Kachia—areas still experiencing bandit attacks—that security forces are working tirelessly to restore peace.

A Warning to Politicians
Governor Sani expressed frustration with politicians who use social media to spread lies and politicize insecurity, stating that their actions do not reflect genuine concern for the masses.

“I do not mind if political opponents insult me on social media, but I will deal with those whose pastime is to spread lies and politicize insecurity in the state,” he warned.

He emphasized that politicizing insecurity is not genuine opposition but a selfish attempt to further political interests at the expense of the people.

Support for Kidnap Victims
The 58 rescued victims received psycho-social therapy and medical treatment from the Kaduna State Government for 11 days, with one victim still undergoing care. Governor Sani promised continued support, including grants to help them restart their businesses and farming activities.

Pastor Danlami Mutane and Malama Raliya Ibrahim, two of the rescued victims, expressed their gratitude to the governor and the Commissioner of Human Services and Social Development, Hajiya Rabi Salisu, for the care and support they received.

Why This Matters
Governor Sani’s remarks underscore the importance of unity and collaboration in addressing insecurity. By calling out politicians who exploit security challenges for personal gain, he is sending a clear message that the welfare of Kaduna’s citizens must come first.

The success of the Kaduna Peace Model also demonstrates the effectiveness of non-kinetic approaches in restoring peace and rebuilding communities.

What’s Next?
As Kaduna State continues its efforts to combat insecurity, the focus will be on sustaining the gains of the Kaduna Peace Model and ensuring that rescued victims receive the support they need to rebuild their lives.

Governor Sani’s administration remains committed to protecting lives and property, and his warning to politicians serves as a reminder that security is a collective responsibility.
