Nigerian singer Damilola Afolabi, popularly known as L.A.X, has shared a deeply personal experience about heartbreak, revealing how he once pleaded with his girlfriend to stay after discovering she had cheated on him.
Caught Through a Text Message
In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, L.A.X recalled a painful moment when his then-girlfriend came home intoxicated. Concerned, he helped her to bed, only to later check her phone and find incriminating messages.
“I checked her phone and saw a message that said, ‘I enjoyed this night. I think we should do this again,’” he revealed.
When confronted, she dismissed the incident, claiming the person she spent the night with was “just a friend.”
Begging to Save the Relationship
Despite the betrayal, the singer admitted that he was the one begging to make things work rather than holding her accountable.
“I showed her the phone, and she just looked at me and said, ‘He’s just my friend. We just spent the night.’ Trust me, it was me that was now begging. I said we can work it out, and she said, ‘Okay, don’t worry,’” he recounted.
