Wizkid and Davido Shine at 2025 NAACP Image Awards

Nigerian music stars Wizkid and Davido have once again made their mark on the global stage, winning big at the 56th NAACP Image Awards. The prestigious event, which celebrates excellence in the arts and media, announced its winners on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Wizkid Wins Big with Brent Faiyaz Collaboration
Afrobeats superstar Wizkid secured the “Outstanding Duo, Group, or Collaboration” award for his hit song with Brent Faiyaz. This victory marks Wizkid’s sixth NAACP Image Award, making him the most awarded Nigerian artist in the history of the event.

Davido Claims ‘Outstanding International Song’ Award
Davido also bagged a major win, taking home the award for “Outstanding International Song” for his collaboration with Chris Brown.

Other Nigerian Artists Miss Out
While Tems, Burna Boy, and other Nigerian nominees were in the running, they unfortunately did not secure wins in their respective categories this year.

What is the NAACP Image Awards
The NAACP Image Awards, organized by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), honor outstanding achievements in music, film, television, and literature, particularly celebrating Black excellence in the entertainment industry.

With this latest recognition, Wizkid and Davido continue to elevate Afrobeats on the global stage, proving once again why they remain two of Africa’s biggest music exports.
