Popular Nigerian actress Biodun Okeowo has opened up about the struggles that led to her sudden exit from Nollywood, revealing that sexual pressure from marketers forced her out of the industry.

“They Tried to Ruin My Career”
In a candid Instagram post, the actress—who recently tied the knot with her US-based partner, Adeniyi Olabiyi, in July 2024—addressed concerns from fans questioning her prolonged absence from the screen.

She alleged that Nollywood marketers blacklisted her after she refused to compromise her morals.

“Marketers were the reason I left the industry after blacklisting me for refusing to remove my panties,” she wrote.

Deliberately Erased from Films
Okeowo went on to reveal how the situation escalated, stating that marketers pressured producers to stop casting her and even went as far as removing her image from movie posters despite her playing lead roles.

“How many of their wicked actions should I even talk about? They did so much damage to my career that I eventually got tired of acting and walked away myself.”

“I Lost My Passion for Acting”
The once-beloved actress admitted that the experience left her so disheartened that she began rejecting roles, despite once having a deep love for the profession.

“I developed so much hatred for a job I once had great passion for that I began to turn down roles,” she added.

“God Has the Final Say”
Despite the challenges, Okeowo remains grateful for where she is today, stating that divine intervention has turned her life around.

“That’s a story for another day, but God will judge evildoers. Thank God I’m a living testimony today! I’m doing extremely well.”

Her revelation has sparked widespread reactions, with many fans and fellow actors condemning the toxic culture in Nollywood while praising her for speaking out.
