Etsako West, Edo State – Edo University, Iyamho, has announced that 14 outstanding students will be graduating with First-Class honors in its upcoming 6th Convocation Ceremony, scheduled for February 27, 2025.
430 Students Set to Graduate
At a press briefing on Monday, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dawood Egbefo, revealed that:
🎓 430 students will graduate this year
🏆 14 students achieved First-Class honors
🎓 140 students will receive Postgraduate degrees, including:
20 Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) awards
Honors for Adams Oshiomhole & Vincent Agenmomen
The university will also confer honorary doctorate degrees on:
✔ Senator Adams Oshiomhole, former Governor of Edo State and Senator representing Edo North
✔ Vincent Agenmomen, Chairman of Freedom Group of Companies
According to Prof. Egbefo, the awards recognize their illustrious careers and contributions to Edo State and Nigeria.
₦5 Million for Best Entrepreneurial Idea
As part of its entrepreneurship initiative, Edo University will award ₦5 million to the graduating student with the best business idea. This initiative encourages innovation and self-reliance among students.
Industrial & Technological Advancements
🏭 Industrial Collaborations – The university partners with:
Nigerian Independent Petroleum Company (NIPCO)
Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)
📡 Tech Upgrades – The Edo State Government has installed optic fiber broadband across the campus, improving internet speed for students and faculty.
